Beware of Slimy Goo Girl (plus the pukes)
March 23, 2009
It rained tonight during supper. Hard. Then it quit, and the sun came out for a few brief minutes. Mesa, Zoey and I headed out to explore after the rain. We walked (they biked, actually) around town a bit, and then back to our street and driveway. Then came the puddles. I don’t know what they’re saying either.

Hope was M.I.A. in the puddle dancing. That’s because she’s sick again. Missed a whole week with Influenza A the week before last. Now she’s on the couch with a puke bucket. I wish I could give her a good answer to her “why am I always sick” question.
Dancing in the Circle
January 2, 2009
We hit the First Night festival on Wednesday afternoon and evening in Sioux Falls. It’s a tradition for us–in fact I was on teh committee that helped Shannon Barnes start First Night several years ago. It’s a cool family celebration of the new year. The kids made turtle art, danced with Phil Baker, and really enjoyed a dance performance by Dance Gallery. (Mesa is convinced she must enroll in some classes now.) I enjoyed another really cool and unique performance called Constellation, but the little ones got a bit scared of the star god.
The sad news is I further confirmed that I am getting old by falling asleep by 11pm. Here’s a video of Zoey and Mesa “Dancing in the Circle” with Phil.
Zoey was all dressed up and ready for a show this morning–’till her crown wouldn’t fit…
Mesa and Kayla perform while Hope directs…
More pictures from the big show this morning, plus a trio of honey bees Jaim and I discovered in our garden last evening…
Lots of Dancing
July 19, 2008
Here’s an update from JazzFest. There were a ton of people there for Friday night (we camp out waaay back from the stage so the kids can run around). Zo and Mesa had a good time (Hope opted to go to Kayla’s house instead). Here they are rockin’ out to the bayou blues of Tab Benoit. Olivia keeps a close eye on ‘em…
We also found an ice cream booth, some corn dogs and a kettle corn vendor. (not pictured: the beer garden).
more dancing.
Apparently I’m the last person on YouTube to discover Matt Harding. Pretty cool. His 2008 video is above (if you have a pretty fast connection, it’s way worth watching it in YouTube “high quality”), and here’s 2006:
