Daddy’s Day Off

17 Feb

So I took the day off on Friday, and promised to just hang with my girls for the weekend. We had some tentative plans to head south to Missouri to visit Joe, Tracy and the twins, but car issues and just general tiredness kept us home (thanks for the generous invite J+T!). Here’s a rewind of the weekend:

Friday morning’s project (after pancakes):

Even though their faces say otherwise, they did have fun making the stage. They’re just concentrating on the show. Really. You can’t see Mesa and Zo’s artwork very well through the snowman’s butt and horse’s hooves, but is wicked great.

After lunch we headed into Sioux Falls and checked into the Sheraton. Just for fun. (Don’t worry Dave Ramsey fans: we used points to stay for FREE! Without the points, Sheraton is $140 per night…)

Here’s a really healthy breakfast Saturday morning (lots of sprinkles!):

Of course, we did plenty of swimming Friday night and Saturday morning.

(a bonus shot of my creepy floating head, just ’cause I know you want to see it…)

Later on, Mesa, Hope and I hit the Washington Pavilion‘s Science Discovery Center while Jaim and Zo did a little shopping. We forgot the camera. Poo. The girls learned and did some cool stuff, and we’ll be back again soon. Highly recommended for the munchkins 5 and over.

After some much-deserved ice cream at Leonardo’s Cafe, we rounded out the day with supper at Grandma Kelly’s and watched the slam dunk contest with my Dad and Greg. Today we visited Great Grandma Knox at he nursing home and after supper are heading to see Great Grandma Bartmann for a while.

Lovely weekend.

Have I ever told you that you guys are great parents? The great times spent with your family will be what you remember the most when you get OLD like me! Keep up the good work.
