Screw Earth Day

22 Apr

Just Kidding.

As you might guess, I love Earth Day (and so do people in more than 90 countries). I’m speaking or helping with talks all over Sioux Falls today and tomorrow. The fun folks at grist.org have been spoofing this promotion, based on the whole “You think you can make up for a lifetime of excess in one day?” thing. If you sign up to “screw Earth Day,” you get a free download of their new book Wake Up and Smell the Planet.

So this whole thing really has me thinking. It is great to celebrate by doing good green things (OK, most of us are just doing less-bad things) for a day. But if we just keep screwing the panet the other 364 days each year, it doesn’t do any real good, does it?

Make it Earth Month or Earth Year in your house. Or, just make it Earth Day every day.

What are you doing for Earth Day? Share, share, share…

(PS-Happy Birthday little brother.)

See what my friend the “Envirotard” did for Earth Day on the front page. (Read the comments on the article…)

@Kurt: And, it’s OK to shower once in a while flyboy. Just keep it short. And shower with a friend.

@Bobbi: Nice to keep God in the mix. More on this later…

Joe, do you mean for my husband to shower with me or your brother Paul, his friend?

I don’t judge, Debbie. You just better get first in line…
