Tonight I’m going on a date. But not with my wife.
I work a lot–most of you know this about me. With four ladies needing my attention at home, I don’t get much chance to spend one on one time with my daughters. When I do, it’s awesome time that deepens our relationships with each other in a big way. Doesn’t matter if it’s a 2-hour hike or a 15 minute drive, when I’m alone with any one of them for a bit–I mean just the two of us, nobody else–I come out all shiny and warm and even more blessed. They amaze me, every time. It’s really the only time to really be with each other, instead of together with a group.
So, I’m really excited to take Mesa on a date today (Hope and Zoey get their turns soon). I’m picking her up after school, and we’re hitting a movie at the Cinedome, the Science Discovery Center at the Pavilion, grabbing a NY-style hot dog (her choice) at Leonardo’s, and rounding things out with a trip through the Fine Arts Trolley tour tonight around downtown. Mesa made the game plan, all except the Trolley Tour (my surprise). It’s been so much fun looking forward to it with her all week–she’s been counting the days, planning what to wear and what to do, and happy. And that rocks.
I can’t wait!
