So long beautiful village

01 Apr

This will come as a big surprise to you. We haven’t even told our families yet. But, since bartblog is the way most of you keep up with us, we figured this to be a good announcing post.

We’re moving away.

Yes, leaving the wonderful little town, and the people who feel like family, where we’ve lived our whole lives. Saying good bye to the comfortable embrace of the South Dakota rolling plains and prairie. Aloha to the places we love. And gracias to all the people who’ve made our lives blessed here. It’s sad and exciting.

Exciting because we’re going on an adventure.  Once we get settled in with the baby and the kids finish out the school year, we’ll be setting out for La Conner, Minnesota. It’s a small town on the shore of Lake Superior not far from Duluth. Northwoods meets Iron Range, and lakes everywhere. Jaimie will be a full time mommy, just like she’s meant to be. And I will become the Outreach and Marketing Director for a non-profit called Lake Moon Farm. LMF is a sustainable farming operation with a mission to teach a oneness with all of mother nature. Kind of ultra-green old fashioned farm meets meditation retreat center. They even have composting toilets. And it’s perfect. I’ll get to put my hands in the soil, hit the trails every day, canoe the area lakes and streams, and put the skills I’ve been honing over the years to great work all over the region. Jaim and the girls will get the slower-paced life surrounded by natural beauty that they deserve.

There’s plenty more to tell about, but that will come another time.

La Conner, here we come

UPDATE (Thursday afternoon): OK, I’m just kidding. Happy April, all my fools.

Uff da! South Dakota’s loss, Lake Moon farm’s gain.

(And if, per Rani, you’re kidding… don’t mess with us like this!!!)

(and a side note: if you use a composting toilet, do you have to eat all organic food? 😉 )

OK, I didn’t want to ruin it for you, so I didn’t comment earlier, but since the gig is up…Damn Straight, I didn’t think this was funny!!! It could be considered evil to give your mother a heart attack at 7:30 in the morning! I love you guys and all, but if you plan to take some more of my grandkids out of state, I better hear it straight from your mouth.

I gotta give it to you – it was a good one! 🙂
Love(yes, even after my heart attack),

WOW – It sounds great do you think there is room for Elissa and I in La Conner. We will stay only the summer months. With that thought, look around and see what is available in housing.

This was writing on April 1 (Fools Day but I was busy and didn’t get it mailed.)
